Art Class x State of Play
Bringing creativity beyond our walls.
Art Class x State of Play is our portable creativity program, designed to bring meaningful, high-quality art experiences directly into classrooms.
Through thoughtfully developed monthly curriculum kits for Kindergarten through 5th grade, we make it easy for schools to offer engaging art education that sparks curiosity, creativity, and self-expression.
While State of Play serves as a hub for creativity and learning, we believe every child deserves access to experiences that nurture imagination and creative confidence.
As art programs continue to disappear from many schools, our goal is to extend our impact by providing educators with ready-to-use resources that make thoughtful art education accessible, engaging, and achievable.
Each monthly kit is packed with materials, lessons, and inspiration, giving teachers everything they need to facilitate intentional, hands-on art experiences without the burden of planning, sourcing, or preparation.
Our Curriculum
Kindergarten & 1st Grade: Material Explorations
Young artists explore a different art material each month, including clay, cardboard, textiles, paint, wood, wire, collage, found objects, and natural materials. Through experimentation and discovery, students create unique artwork while learning about the possibilities and properties of each medium.
2nd & 3rd Grade: What Is Art For?
Students are introduced to the seven elements of art: line, shape, space, value, form, texture, and color. Through projects inspired by drawing, sculpture, weaving, collage, and other artistic techniques, they begin to understand how artists use visual language to communicate ideas and tell stories.
4th & 5th Grade: Who Is Art For?
Students explore identity, self-expression, and the role art plays in shaping communities. Through self-portraits, expressive art, and collaborative projects, they examine how art can communicate feelings, represent personal experiences, build connection, and even inspire change. Together, they explore questions like: Can art help create community? Can it influence how we see the world around us?
